Are you ready for some S&M next month?

18 02 2011

S&M Bikes just posted a new picture of the 2nd version of their prototype 24″ Dirt Bike. They’ve also let it drop that they would be available towards the end of next month.

I’m very interested to see what the final specs are on this bad boy…cause it looks like they’ve done some considerable tinkering and tweaking to the original prototype.

Can a pumptrack save your marriage?

14 02 2011

A good relationship always allows for some give and take.

We do things for our significant others when sometimes we’d rather be doing something else.

Likewise, having a nice place to share is important too.

Unfortunately, the work involved to keep a nice place often has a way of interfering with the time we like to spend riding. This can create some tension, unless your spouse happens to be as bike-crazy as you are.

The answer?

A pumptrack.

But not just any pumptrack.

We’re talking a manicured, landscaped pumptrack like the one in the backyard of John and Maggie of the San Diego Mountain Bike Association, as featured on the ihatebikes site.

This yard is a thing of beauty. (Although that wall is crying out to be incorporated as a feature in the pump track.)

Here’s another shot:

So maybe you and your spouse can’t agree on the decor in your home…but with a yard like this, at least you’ll have a yard you can both enjoy (…and you’ll never have to be nagged to do yardwork again!).

Sunday Wave-C frames are here!

11 02 2011

Just got word that the first shipment of Sunday Wave-C frames has arrived.

It should begin shipping to bike shops and mail orders across the U.S. early next week.

So far only the black version of the frame is available (Vapor Blue will follow, delivery date to be determined).

The initial order is on the small side so if you want to be among the first to ride this frame, you should  probably get in touch with your local shop or favorite mail-order company as soon as you finish reading this sentence.

They’re going to go quick.

It's here...The Sunday Wave-C frame

There will also be matching handlebars and forks. I believe the Vapor Blue versions have arrived (minus the frame) and I will try to post a pic or two of them on the Cruiser Revolution Facebook page if I can get a hold of them.

Sunday Front Brake Fork update

Don’t shoot the messenger…production delays on the front brake forks caused them not to be part of this shipment.

Believe me, I think they (Sunday) are just as anxious as everyone here to try to get an exact date for when these will arrive.

Mongoose 24″ BMX prototype spotted

9 02 2011

An eagle-eyed reader tipped me off to this bit of interesting news.

Mongoose has a pic of a 24″ BMX prototype up on their Facebook page!

The caption reads:

Check out Moody from Solano Ave Cyclery throwing down on a prototype Mongoose 24″ BMX at the Clock Tower in San Francisco!

No word yet if it’s going to be a complete or frame-only.

In either case, it’s good to see another company (especially one with roots, like Mongoose) stepping up and becoming part of the growing 24″ BMX scene.

And while you’re on Facebook…

Check out the new Cruiser Revolution Facebook page. It’s a great way to keep up with what’s going on with the blog, post pics of your ride and other such frivolity.

Hellcat loose in Las Vegas

4 02 2011

Thousands of tourists flock to Las Vegas every day in search of  fun and good times.

What many of them miss seeing, however, is the cool bike-friendly terrain ready to be sessioned just beyond the bright lights of the strip.

From skateparks, to dirt, to just cruising the strip…Vegas has something for any rider.

Vegas local, Mike Leonard is making the most of what Vegas has to offer on his Free Agent Hellcat 24.

Because sometimes you just have to be a local to know where the real fun is.

RL Osborn would be proud

2 02 2011

Stumbled across this build the other day on bmxmuseum.com.

This guy did a great job of transforming a regular 24″ race bike into a cool looking 24″ version of one of the iconic freestyle bikes of the the 1980s, the Redline RL-20II.

Hard to believe that it started off a 2000 Redline John Purse Signature Series 24.

Check out this “before” picture:

Pretty amazing what Rustoleum Key Lime paint, Forklifter bars and some creativity will get you. You can follow the build of the bike on this bmxmuseum.com thread.

Friday free for all

28 01 2011

Over the last couple of days, there was a pretty much something for everyone in the world of 24″ BMX.

It didn’t really matter what you were into.

If you’re looking for the perfect wave

Sunday announced that the widely anticipated Wave-C frame would be available in the second week of February. If you’ve already checked out the sneak peek, you know this frame is the real deal.

Who’s that at Walnut Creek?

27 01 2011

Bobby Parker knows I love a good tabletop photo.

That’s why I was so stoked to see this in my in-box the other day.

While he may be partially hidden behind the tree leaves, nothing obscures the radness of the table.

More inside dirt on the 24″ S&M Dirt Bike

25 01 2011

Jon Faure’s been busy testing the 24″ S&M Dirt Bike prototype out on the trails and, more recently, in Las Vegas at their bike-friendly parks.

Jon seems to be loving the bike and his comfort level with the bike really shows (just check the picture above for evidence).

He’s also just put up a post on plussizebmx.com with some updates on how the testing is going.

It looks like:

  • some tweaks are being made to the existing prototype (proto #2 is on the way),
  • new bars to go with the frame are being developed
  • Updated 24″ Pitchforks might be in the works.

Have to say, this looks very promising!

The right stickers make all the difference...

Wayne Keller gets whiplash while riding

20 01 2011

Just when I start thinking that it’s been far too long since we checked out some 24″ flatland, Wayne Keller goes ahead and posted this cool whiplash sequence.

Kinda looks like something that would’ve run in Freestylin’ magazine back in the day. (Especially with that Sanford and Son pic in the middle.)

Stylish.

Wayne has a lot of stuff on the go, everything from creating custom parts to perfecting his tables, so be sure to check out his blog, carrot-bag.blogspot.com to learn more about his other projects.
