Nikos Garyfallos shreds BluEnigma Bowl

With Greece in the headlines so much over the last few days (for economic reasons), it was cool to receive a message from Nikos Garyfallos recently with some good news…specifically, some awesome riding facilities in Greece.

And not only that…Nikos included some great shots of himself shredding those spots on his custom cruiser.

Nikos is a mechanical engineer by trade and also a long-time bike rider.

The place he’s riding at is the BluEnigma Hotel in the village of Apikia, on the island of Andros.

Back in 2010, he set out to rejuvenate the family business (the hotel) and while doing so, added in elements of his own personality…namely, unique riding structures for BMX, MTB and Skateboarding.

(People staying at BluEnigma have full access to both the Enigma Bowl and Gratitude Trails.)

According to Nikos, the riding facilities have been set up be very flow-y with endless lines. Both look super dialed!

Definitely  a place I’d like to check out if/when I ever get out to that part of the world!

Sneak Peek: 2016 Volume Hessian

Volume Bikes just released a sneak peek of the 2016 version of their 26″ Hessian Complete.

Available in Trans Red or Matte Raw, it’s an interesting blend of high and low…Chromoly Down tube frame, Odyssey components, and a mix of sealed and unsealed parts.

Certainly not a hard-core shredder like some of the other iterations of their previous 26″ models.

However, if you’re looking for a simple neighborhood cruiser for launching off curbs (and the like) this might just be the ticket.

Bun buzzer: Bob Osborn approved

I suspect if you’re under 35, you’re probably not going to get the Bob Osborn reference in the title.

Which makes me sad a little, as Bob Osborn was the driving force behind BMX Action magazine (R.I.P), the publication that set the gold standard for all BMX magazines that would follow in it’s wake.

Anyway, there’s a certain style of photo, and a certain style of riding, that just scream of that era.

The classic bun buzzer jump is just one example of this.

And once again, Scott Towne, and his Instagram account, come through with some good stuff.

In this case, it’s a shot of Sean Newton boosting a nice bun buzzer on a 24.

Pure old school style…something dear old Bob would certainly approve of, and want to immortalize in the pages of the mighty BMXA.

Colony Eclipse 24: customized

The Colony Eclipse 24 has had my attention ever since Colony dropped a sneak peek of it earlier this year.

Once I got a chance to get a closer look at the specs, my interest was piqued further. This was a nice looking bike…and one of the better equipped completes on the market!

That being said, every rider likes to customize their bike a bit, no matter how good it comes stock, to make it “their own”.

Will C. did just that, customizing his Colony Eclipse 24 to make it just the way he wanted, with no compromises.

The end result looks pretty sweet!

 Will still has plans to switch out the bars (…and if I could be so bold with a suggestion…a pair of tanwall Stolen Joint tires or DMR Supermotos would really put this one over for the top for me…)

All in all, not too shabby.

Looking forward to seeing more 24″ Colony bikes under riders’ feet in the future.

Scott Towne rollin’ on a Stolen

Just spotted this over on Instagram.

All-around renaissance man, Scott Towne is now rolling on a custom 24″ Stolen Gold.

Scott is well-known for his daily shred sessions, his work in the BMX industry and his stints in a variety of BMX publications.

The pics went up last night on his Instagram page and his Tumblr, fUNBRO, and I have to say his new rig looks pretty sweet.

Vintage Profile Cruiser gets a makeover

I’ve been drooling over this bike ever since I laid eyes on it.

Restored and built by artist Lix North, this 82/83 Profile cruiser is powder coated in glossy, sea foam green with custom decals. The color choice was inspired by Fender’s iconic seafoam green electric guitars.

While definitely not a color that old school Profile frames were available in, it still tugs the nostalgia chord all the same — given its wide use in cars, guitars and ton of other stuff back in the day. (E.g., GM’s use of the color on the 1956 Buick.)

This unique color color choice is then combined with other awesome throwback items: a GT drop-nose seat (with custom leather cover), pitbull brake, mag wheels and tanwall tires (yes!!).

So good.

Sneak Peek: Cult Limited Edition Cruiser

Just when you thought The Simpsons/CULT Duffman Cruiser would be a one-off for the Cult Crew…Cult has returned to the 24″ scene with a Limited Edition Cult cruiser bike.

This time around, they’ve dispensed with the bright orange paint and gone the stealth route with a low-key black paint job paired with chrome components.

That being said, eyeballing the picture and taking a quick glance at the specs, it looks like this will not be a big departure from the Duffman cruiser in the setup/handling department (it’s pretty similar sans the color and branding).
