Turn! Turn! Turn!

30 03 2017

There’s a season for everything*…and apparently this week, it’s turnbars!

For some reason, my social feeds have been filled with turnbars of every variety lately, so I thought I would share a few.

First off, the ChiefRocka, Trent Brocker throwing down a turnbar at the OSBMXR Jam a couple weeks back.

Next up, Julian Allen with a more racer-ish turnbar.

And finally, Roma Abramov with a turnbar that evokes the iconic Stu Thomsen jump over the row of Porsches (…except Roma’s jumping over a VW Golf).

Awesome shot.

*It probably goes without saying…but this post is best enjoyed with this song playing in the background.

Reign in blood

28 03 2017

Stolen Bikes recently put together a limited-run colorway of their 24″ Gold frame and fork sets…and do they ever look cool!

Featuring a blood spatter paint job…you’ll be sure to reign in blood wherever you roll on one of these bad boys.

The catch?

Only 5 were made…and at last check, only 3 (maybe less) are still available.

Don’t sleep on this…get the horn asap to your Stolen dealer if you want to score one of these limited-run frame & fork sets.

The price is approximately $500 (US) and set features heat treated and butted cromoly thoughout.

Click here for a complete spec breakdown.

Can’t wait to see one of these frame sets built up!

Sixteen Candles

22 03 2017

I got to celebrate another spin around the sun this past weekend.

Yes, it was my birthday.

And while there were more than sixteen candles on the cake, I still managed to have some fun in my now rapidly advancing years.

It was an action-packed weekend filled with indie wrestling, the Trainspotting sequel, a session at Joyride 150 and a Raptors/Pacers basketball game.

The icing on the proverbial cake, however, was seeing a Facebook picture of Trent Brocker sporting a Cruiser Revolution t-shirt atop the MegaRamp at Woodward West.

(Trent was attending the Old School BMX Reunion and getting a few laps in.)

Trent even got a little dirt on it to break it in.

Nice!

As you can see, the space-age fabric (100% cotton) the shirt can take some abuse and is (like Trent) no worse for wear.

Finally, I was hoping to wrap up this meandering post with riding shots but alas I was remiss in pulling out my phone while riding at Joyride.

Thankfully, Bunky Dunn also recently celebrated a birthday and commemorated the day by flinging himself down a couple rails.

Please enjoy in lieu of my absent riding photos.

Cheers…and go see Trainspotting 2 if you haven’t seen it…good flick!

Checking off all the boxes

17 03 2017

When you’re putting together a Friday blog post, it’s important to check off all the boxes.

  • Is there a rad picture? Check.
  • Does it fit with the #flashbackfriday hashtag? Check. Wayne Keller getting rad (with an old school trick, no less) a couple years back.
  • Does it fit with a second hashtag (bonus points)? Check. The green bike qualifies this as a #stpatricksday post.

So much winning.

Tabletop/Toboggan Tuesday

14 03 2017

Roma Abramov continues to put out great content.

So whether you subscribe to the #tabletoptuesday or #twofourtuesday hashtag he’s got you covered.

Tabletops?

He’s got ’em.

I’m particularly partial to this one.

Classic.

Heck, given the snow walloping the US and Canadian Northeast today…maybe we should throw in another hashtag…how ’bout #toboggantuesday?

Yeah, Roma’s got that covered too.

First look: Kuwahara Retro Cruiser

4 03 2017

Word on the street is that Kuwahara is jumping on the retro trend and introducing a 24″ Retro BMX cruiser later this year.

So much chrome-y goodness.

Someone better alert Michael Strahan that this bike is coming on the market!

Everything’s coming up Van Halen

2 03 2017

Might as well jump to the stereo and cue up the “Panama” track because Flite Pads is introducing a new Van Halen-inspired pad set!

van-halen-pad-setHot damn these are cool.

Kinda reminds me of Tom Johnson’s custom 24″Standard cruiser from a few years back.

Let’s just hope they don’t end up like Van Homan‘s Mean Street frame.
