WTP: Where’s The Promotion?

31 03 2011

We The People (WTP) has been consistently producing high-quality 24″ completes for years.

From their frames to their components they haven’t compromised.

Sure, here and there a part may need to be replaced or upgraded. But compared to some of the completes other companies are offering, they are hard to beat.

This bike deserves a web clip

What I find surprising, given WTP’s relatively long tenure in the 24″ game, is their lack of promotion. Year after year, WTP puts out great bikes with nary a web clip or cool riding shot to be seen.

Would it be so hard to film a clip of Chester Blacksmith cruising around the city — on a cruiser — for instance?

We The People, show us some love! Let’s see some web clips!

The first 900 air: Hoffman making history

28 03 2011

Hard to believe that it has been 22 years since Mat Hoffman pulled the first 900 in a contest.

Others had come close, but the 900 was an elusive trick that sent many rider down — hard — whenever it was attempted.

This contest would change all that.

I still remember that day…piling into a car with a bunch of friends so hyped that we were going to a 2-Hip King of Vert contest.

It felt like something big was going to happen.

Little did we know how big…

(For more on Mat’s ground-breaking 900 air, check out this post on ESPN.com )

Not just a pretty face

25 03 2011

If you’re on Facebook and you’re interested in some (almost) daily 24″ news and BMX-related shenanigans, you should definitely check out (and ‘like’) the Cruiser Revolution Facebook page.

In addition to links to current posts, you’ll also find reader bike photos (don’t forget to post your own), cool videos, and other assorted fun stuff.

It’s just another way to get your fix of 24″ BMX news and information.

24″ Pitchforks with 990 mounts are here!

22 03 2011

Just got word that S&M now has 24″ Pitchforks available (in stock) in black, red and white….with and without 990 mounts.

Chrome is expected in a week or so.

A new 24″ Race Fork with tapered legs is also now in stock.

You’re not reading this anymore now, are you? At this point, you’re probably just looking at the picture.

But who can blame you? She’s a beauty.

Contact S&M for all the details.

Take a chrome 24″ Dirt Bike home

17 03 2011

In case you missed it on the S&M Bikes’ Facebook feed…the 24″ Dirt Bike frames are now available in chrome!

Maybe I’m just an old school fool but I can’t help but feel my heart go all a flutter when I look at that nice shiny chrome.

What a sweet looking frame.

(It also looks like it’s going to be a limited run…so if you’re interested, get it while the gettin’s good.)

Renthal reboots the race cruiser bar

16 03 2011

While many in the BMX race world cling for dear life to traditional cruiser bars, it looks like Renthal is ready to mix things up.

A relative newcomer to the BMX race scene, Renthal has long history in motocross.

Red Division, my cruiser blog brother from another (Spanish) mother, is reporting that Keith Wilson from Dialed Bikes is sporting a pair of prototype Renthal bars with a bolt-on crossbar reminiscent of its motorcycle bars. (Keith placed 4th in 45+ cruiser at the 2010 World Cup. )

I have to wonder if there are flex and/or durability issues. It seems to work for them in the motorcycle world so I’m very interested to see how this type of handlebar fares in the bar-banging world of BMX racing.

Nicole Kidman’s most important role

14 03 2011

Bet you never thought you would see a headline like this on CR, did you?

Tomorrow, March 15, Severin films is releasing the cult classic, BMX Bandits, on DVD and Blu-Ray.

It features a young Nicole Kidman at the start of her career.

Little did she know it would be her most important role to date.

There’s so much old school cheesiness…it’s hard to look away.

Check out the trailer.

Wonder if this will prompt the powers-that-be to finally release RAD on DVD?

We can only hope.

S&M 24″ Dirt Bike frame now available!

9 03 2011

The wait is over.

The classic S&M Dirt Bike frame reborn as a bigger, bad ass 24″ version of its previous self is now available.

In red or black, it’s ready to attack…just about anything you can throw at it.

Check out the S&M Bikes site for all the details.

Bonus info: A chrome version (holla!) will be available in about two weeks or so.

Sneak peek: blue Wave-C forks

8 03 2011

I was all set to incorporate a Blue Monday reference into the title but it’s late in the day so I’ll spare you.

As mentioned in an earlier post about the Sunday Wave-C frame, Vapor blue is another color option that will be available in the future. From what I understand there will be both handlebars and forks to match the frame.

Here’s a sneak peek of what the color will look like (sorry, no pic of the frame yet).

Looks pretty fresh.

No confirmed date yet on when these will be available. Let’s just say “coming soon.”

A little trails action from no inch rules

4 03 2011

Way back in September, I posted up some rad riding shots of Ivan from the blog, no inch rules.

He’s got some video posted too.

Not too shabby.

Vodpod videos no longer available.
