Floval Flyer flashback video

23 02 2017

I kinda freaked out when I got my first look at the 2017 SE Floval Flyer last summer.

It was so retro-cool, chock full of throwback parts and gold ano…it got me right in the feels.

Now, SE’s back with a promo video for it that evokes the scratchy VHS vibe of old BMX videos.

It’s pulling at my heart strings all over again.

Dang you SE and your clever marketing!

Freaking out over the Floval Flyer Looptail

25 08 2016

While I’ve always been partial to the Elite Series Floval Flyer, and really dug the new 26″ PK Ripper Looptail, I’m kinda freaking out about the retro coolness of SE’s 2017 Floval Flyer Looptail.

It features many of the cool throwback parts of its bigger 26″ brother and than adds even more!

We’re talking about a cruiser with this laundry list of goodness:

  • Cowboy Cut forks
  • Skyway Tuffwheels with gold anodized hubs
  • Vee Tire Co x SE Racing Cub tanwall tires
  • Redline Flight cranks & sprocket
  • Bear Trap pedals
  • Kashimax seat
  • ODI Mushroom II grips.

(I would be remiss If I didn’t also note the nice, roomy 22″ top tube of the Floval Flyer Looptail…if only the Elite Series Floval Flyer came in a version this long…maybe next year Todd Lyons?)

And to top it all off? A liberal¬† sprinkling of gold ano on the seatpost, stem…and yes…even the alloy valve caps.

Gotta love the attention to detail!

Holiday happenings

29 12 2010

Hope everyone had a good holiday with friends and family.

I must still be in holiday mode because, after poking around the internet, I realized there was a bunch of stuff going on in the 24″ world.

I thought things would be a bit quieter.

I guess BMX rests for no man.

So without further ado, let’s check out what’s going on.

First up, Plussizebmx.com has posted the first installment of Project Model-C.¬† They’re traveling around letting people test drive the Sunday Model-C to give them a taste of how much fun riding can be on on 24″ BMX bike.

Looks like a lot of people are getting converted!

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Second, Robert sent me a note a few days back about his new blog featuring two of my favorite things: pump tracks and gold anodized components!

Check out pumptrackfreedom to read about the trials, tribulations and triumphs of building (and running) a pumptrack.

Robert’s tricked out Model-C with gold Hazard Lites is a real beauty.

Third, with a huge chunk of the U.S. blanketed in the white stuff over Christmas, it only seemed appropriate that Tribute Bikes would post a picture of their retro-style/modern geometry frame in white on Christmas day.

Such a cool-looking frame.

Finally, no Christmas would be complete here at Cruiser Revolution HQ without receiving a bike-related gift. My girl came through in the clutch with this cool bike lane-inspired t-shirt.

Perhaps to commemorate the Cruiser Revolution article in the most recent edition of Fastlane magazine?

Maybe.

Thanks, doll.

Redline joins the gold rush

31 08 2010

Looks like more bike companies are joining the “gold rush” with retro-inspired gold anodized components.

Case in point, Redline’s 2011 Proline 24 chock-a-block with gold components.

It may not get the fanfare of the Flight series, but for me, if you’re looking for a race-ready complete it’s hard to go wrong with the Proline. And now with gold components, you get a little bit more soul with your performance.

SE heads into 2011 with classic style

4 08 2010

Maybe I’m an old school fool after all.

SE bikes has been releasing pictures of their soon-to-be-released 2011 lineup and this 24″ Quadangle looptail is one that I can’t take my eyes off of.

Gold anodized components, tall handlebars and skinwall tires…it hits all the right buttons for me.

Whoever said that “looking good is half the battle” must be right because I have no idea what the geometry or weight of this bike is and yet I still want it.
