Here’s a fun little jibby edit of Daniil Andreyevich riding street near Dallas, Texas.
(I think it’s technically Irving, Texas…but that would make the headline a lot less fun.)
Nice way to kick off the week.

It may seem odd to write about cement curbs on Earth Day (of all days) but in some way it is oddly appropriate.
Earth Day is a day when we–collectively–look at our environment in a different light.
Sure, it’s there every day but how often do we stop and appreciate it?
Now, think of the urban environment.
Curbs, banked surfaces, rails…to the average pedestrian these things barely register.
To a bike rider…well, these things make their eyes light up and stoke their imagination.
Stevil, over at All hail the black market, wrote about this today –in the context of skating–but I think you’ll agree the same line of thought goes through the mind of any BMXer rolling down the street.
The rad thing about curbs is 99% of the population sees a cement block, if they even see them at all, and generally pay absolutely no mind to them whatsoever. Skateboarders on the other hand, look at them- This thing that’s so impossibly mundane, and see potential for a great deal of fun.
It’s all about perspective.
And the notion that fun…even with something as mundane as a curb…is never far from reach.

We got a peek at it last month but now we have the chance to take a closer look.
As promised, the Eclipse 24 features full cro-mo frame, fork, cranks and bars. Everything is sealed and the wheels are double-walled.
According to Colony, they based this cruiser off their Premise complete bike, just scaled everything up (which is reminiscent of how Sunday developed the Model-C…taking features from their popular 20s and scaling them up).
Before we get into all the nitty-gritty details, here are a few notables that stood out for me: the Eclipse features a 22″ top tube (yeah!) and a relatively steep head angle (at 75.2 degrees).
Another interesting spec (if the parts list is correct…) is the use of 170mm cranks…perhaps to make bar-spin tricks easier?
Here’s the complete parts/spec breakdown:
• Frame: Colony Eclipse Full CroMo, 22.0″ Top Tube, 14.5″ rear, 75.2 Head tube angle, 71 Seat tube angle.
(Extra-wide tire clearance)
• Stand over Height: 10″
• Forks: Colony Full CroMo, tapered legs with one-piece CNC steer tube.
• Brakes: Alloy 990-style
• Lever: Alloy
• Cable: Linear Slick (rear)
• Headset: Integrated
• Stem: Colony Forged Top Load Alloy
• Bars: Colony Full CroMo, 7.75″ x 28″
• Grips: Colony Much Room
• Sprocket: Colony Endeavour Alloy
• Cranks: Colony CroMo Tubular 8 tapered spline, 19mm spindle
170mm
• Bottom Bracket: Sealed Mid 19mm
• Pedals: Colony Fantastic Plastic
• Rims: Double Wall 6000 Series Alloy 36h
• Front & Rear Tire: Innova 24×2.125”
• Front Hub: Colony Alloy Female Axle, Full sealed bearing
• Rear Hub: Colony Alloy Cassette, 14mm axle, Full sealed bearing
• Seat/Seatpost: Colony Have Fun Fat Seat/Post Combo
• Weight: just under 25 pounds
It’s looks like a pretty solid complete to me.
What do you think?

Colony BMX let the cat out of the bag a couple of days ago on Instagram. They’re releasing a new cruiser called the Eclipse 24.
According to the brief description, the new 24 is:
Full CrMo, full sealed everything, ready to cruise on or for those that want a bigger BMX for the dirt, park and streets.
I’m looking forward to checking out the full spec list once it becomes available.
Watch for these to be available in the U.S and Australia sometime in March. (Other countries will get them soon after.)

I’ve seen talk of this in a couple of places (the otxdesign instagram page and BMX Museum) but so far no official word.
Is a 24″ version of Odyssey’s Chase Hawk tire in the pipeline?
If the word on the street is to be believed, it looks like it’s going to happen. In the mean time, I guess we’ll have to sit tight until we hear about a release date.
Pretty stoked to see this added into the assortment of high-end tires available for new school 24s.
It’s been a spell but I hope you have had a great holiday season and are ready to dive into 2015.
I just got back from a trip to Argentina…and while it wasn’t a biking-related trip (I only saw one person riding when we were in the capital) I was struck by how many great street setups/spots were in Buenos Aires.
I kept thinking, “If only I had my bike with me…” So much shreddable terrain!
As it turns out a bunch of Nike-sponsored riders (Chad Kerley, Dennis Enarson, Garrett Reynolds, Nigel Sylvester and Kriss Kyle) hit BA earlier in 2014.
They had their bikes with them of course.
Check out this edit and get a taste of all the great street setups Buenos Aires has to offer.
Watch for a return to our regular CR programming in the next few days.
When I heard that Buddy Sardenga was getting a set of 26″ Stolen Joint tires for his Beelzebike 20 666, I knew it would be a good opportunity to hear more about the tires that are popping up on more and more cruiser builds.
Judging by this pic alone, they are definitely winning in the looks department.
But how do they perform?
According to Buddy,
…they have amazing grip on the concrete and you can lay it down as low as you want on turns. Very fast and quiet, especially with a free coaster.
In the dirt?
What really blew me away was the way they handled dirt jumps and cornering at high speed in berms. Once again, very fast and they grip like they had knobs, great all around design.
Comparing the Joint tires to what he ran before, Buddy said:
I was running Halo Twin Rails before these tires and I would say the Stolen’s are right up there with those.
(Editors note: I took a lap on Buddy’s bike at Walnut Creek last year when it had Halos on it…and whoa, were they super grippy…if these tires are in the same league…that’s saying a lot.)
It appears the Stolen Joint tires are the real deal…looks and performance in one package.
Check out Buddy shreddin’ Tejano’s trails in Pflugerville, Texas for more proof that these tires live up to the hype. (Pic by Octavio Artuno)
I had heard stories/rumours previously of Matt Beringer experimenting with a 22 but never could seem to find any evidence of it happening.
Well, it looks like another big name in the S&M alumni is taking the plunge…and this time S&M Bikes themselves is promoting the fact.
The man, the myth, the legend…Josh Stricker is building himself up a fresh 22″ ATF whip.
Could this be the start of more big-name riders making the switch to bigger wheels?
Who’s to say at this point?
All I can say is I can’t wait to see video of Stricker tearing shit up on this thing.
While there have been rumblings about an indoor park opening in Las Vegas before, it now looks likes it’s finally happening.
SK8XTC, what the new park is called, will cater to skateboarders, BMX riders and inline types. The features and amenities include dirt riding areas, concrete bowls, a BMX SX track and a whole lot more. There’s even a sushi restaurant planned!
Seems pretty over the top…but then again, where else but Vegas could something like this fly?
Parents, lock up your daughters because @matt_nordstrom ‘s crazy hip action is going to drive them into a frenzy.
I didn’t expect to see this kinda crazy nose manual on a TAJ cruiser but here we are…pretty rad.
