Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!

9 10 2013

(Note: headline best read aloud with a monster truck rally announcer voice.)

The guys over at Sunday Bikes have been sharing a bunch of pictures over the past few days of their flagship 24″ bike, the Model-C, popping up in cool places and situations.

First off was a pic of Bunky Dunn’s Model-C chilling at the ACL festival in Austin, Texas.  Bunky helps set up music festivals but he always keeps his Model-C close at hand so he can get some shredding in. (Photo: Paulo Joaquim)

Another picture that surfaced was pucksnotdead  shredding some trails on his Model C (Photo: triblaze /mikeyaskew13)

Then an early morning ramp session at House Park in Austin yielded these shots.

Bobby Parker ramp seshWord has it that a group of 24″ riders were also going to session the Walnut Creek trails later in the day so my fingers are crossed hoping that we’re going to see even more 24″ radness from the Sunday/Austin crew.

From this angle it’s even radder

17 05 2013

A while back we featured a picture of Jim Cielencki riding this tricky feature in House Park (in Austin).  It was a pic that was originally posted on the Sunday Bikes site.  In that post, we said that:

you have to take off early and pull out far enough to clear the bars. And just to keep things interesting, it narrows at the top and goes over-vert!

It all the makings of a rad shot and for that it certainly delivered.

To give you a better understanding of how truly rad this shot is, I took a pic of this feature from an another angle during my trip to Austin last week.

Messing around in Texas

6 05 2013

By the time you read this, I’ll probably be somewhere between San Antonio and Austin, Texas (Have to see the Alamo after all).

I’m spending a week in Austin for a little R&R and to see the sights.

texas_don't mess wih TX

So if you happen across a guy (that resembles the dude in the photo below) asking for directions to 9th street, House Park or Empire BMX…that’s probably me.

If you have the inside line on some good BBQ, a good band playing or whatever…help a brother out and let me know in the comments below.

Any Austin recommendations are welcome.

See where a 24″ will take you

You’ll sometimes hear people say that 24s aren’t built or designed for serious riding.

A load of bollocks in my view but an opinion that is pretty common in some circles.

If you want some evidence of how out of step that type of thinking is, especially with modern-day 24s, check out this picture posted today on the Sunday Bikes site.

Jim C House Park

Riding at House Park in Austin, TX, Jim Cielencki hits this tricky feature where you have to take off early and pull out far enough to clear the bars. And just to keep things interesting, it narrows at the top and goes over-vert!

Clearly, 24s like the Sunday Wave-C that Jim is riding are capable of much more than liquor store runs (like some people will lead you to believe).

Modern-day 24s can go anywhere!
