S&M ATF cruiser grows up

1 02 2023

One of the more popular aftermarket 24″ BMX frames is getting a big brother.

The S&M Instagram let the news drop earlier this week that a 26″ S&M ATF frame was on the way.

In the aforementioned Instagram post, S&M also asked for input on the new frame, specifically what colorways did people want? Taking a “wisdom of crowds” approach, S&M promised that the most popular color suggestions, based on number of comments, would make their way into the production models. (A cool trans orange prototype was shown as an example, see screen grabs.)

Sprinkled in the comments were multiple requests for a disc brake version of the frame…it’ll be interesting to see if that upgrade makes it into production!

Pretty cool, in any event.

I’ve said it before, 26 inch cruisers are having a moment.

Actually, I said that years ago. 26 inch cruisers are showing so much momentum, it’s basically a movement now.

Traveling Florida by cruiser

9 04 2013

Steve, a guy in the PlanetBMX shipping department, and Von (a good friend and fellow Floridian) left today for a couple hundred mile ride across the state of Florida on their cruisers.

Steve’s rolling on a Floval Flyer complete with Skyways and Von’s piloting a tricked-out S&M.

Steve Ride Across Florida

The plan is to make the epic ride, have some fun along the way and arrive at the 5th Annual Spring Fling in St Petersburg, Florida next Saturday.

Von Ride Across Florida

You can follow their progress over on the PlanetBMX Facebook page.

Pretty cool stuff.

Good luck guys!

S&M unveils Speedwagon Cruiser frame

31 07 2012

After much anticipation, S&M has unveiled its new Speedwagon race frames.  And while they have made some tweaks to the the 20 inch version’s geometry for the 24″ version they have stuck with the tried-and-true geo found on the 24″ 38 Special.

In terms of updates, Jay Skwarlo of S&M said they:

…ditched the mono stay and put the dropouts on a diet. We also got rid of the cable split cable stops and went with three guides.

Looks dialed.

Another thing that caught my eye was the addition of a new stock size, one with a 22″ top tube.  Definitely a plus for the bigger guys.

Color options are Gloss Black, Trans Red and Chrome.

Specs

  • Butted/air-hardening Super Therm tubing
  • Bullet tipped tapered chain and seat stay
  • TT lengths: 21.5”(4.3lb), 22”(4.35lb)
  • BB Height:  12”
  • Chainstay Range:  14.75″ – 15.75″
  • Head Angle:  73°
  • Seat Angle: 70.5°
  • Standover: 9”

For more details and pictures of specific parts of the frame, check out the S&M Bikes website.

Can’t wait to see one of these babies in chrome.
