Brad Pitt gets Rad

7 08 2022

Rad movie references pop up from time to time. Television shows from The Simpsons to Daniel Tosh have all referenced the 80s classic BMX movie.

However, it was a bit of a surprise to see Hollywood heavyweight Brad Pitt get in on the action.

In a recent segment on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Brad Pitt sat down with Jimmy Fallon for a conversation about his new film, Bullet Train. A film that Fallon describes as “pretty rad”.

It doesn’t take long before Brad Pitt gets suited up to perform some rad maneuvers….all while “Send me an Angel” plays in the background….in an unexpected but funny homage to the Rad bicycle boogie/dance scene.

Word on the street is that Montana Ricky is the stunt double for this. Not sure if that’s true but kinda cool if it is. What a cool opportunity for any BMX dude (or dudette)!

Pretty rad all around.

Kinda dig that they used the #RADPITT hashtag…in the Rad movie font too….so there’s no mistake in what they are referencing.

Check out the Fallon segment if you haven’t seen it yet….and maybe check out “Bullet Train”….it looks like a fun movie too.

Bart Simpson gets a BMX bike

21 12 2015

It’s been a couple years since The Simpsons/Duffman Cruiser collaboration but it looks like the connection between The Simpsons (and Bart in particular) is only getting deeper.

About a week ago, Bart Simpson got himself a BMX bike on the show.

Bart bike zap1(Wait….are those Zap Pads?)

Radness ensues…

Springfield BMX championshipThere’s even a nod (I’m guessing) to the USA BMX Golden Crank Award…however, in this case it becomes The Golden Crutch Award.

Golden Crutch awardAnd what’s that on the wall?  A Quadangle, perhaps?

(And is that supposed to be Neil Stauss behind the mic? That’s a bit random.)

It’s pretty cool to see BMX popping up on The Simpsons after all these years.

Granted, American Dad did beat them to it with their kooky send-up of RAD. But given that Bart has always had any affinity for getting rad on his skateboard…we can’t really hold a grudge.

Still cool to see him on a BMX though!

The Simpsons/CULT Duffman Cruiser

12 09 2013

In one of the coolest collaboration projects ever, CULT has teamed up with The Simpsons to create the 24″ Duffman cruiser!

According to CULT’s Robbie Morales, in an interview in DEFGRIP, the project got its start at the AGENDA TRADESHOW in Long Beach (California).  Robbie says:

Santa Cruz skateboards had just finished a board collab with THE SIMPSONS, and their people were walking the show. They noticed Adam L. Roye in our booth rocking a SIMPSONS shirt and they really liked CULT and the aesthetic of the brand. They politely asked if we were interested in doing a bike collab and we graciously agreed. Adam and the rest of our crew are big fans of the show, so it was natural to work together.

There’s going to be a limited number of these completes available. In terms of details on the bike itself, Robbie says:

This bike is made from 6061 T-6 aluminum to keep the weight down and provide a stable, responsive ride. The spec is dialed and with the DUFFMAN logos it looks awesome. Definitely a bike you can thrash on or just cruise to the bar.

No details yet on geometry and other specs but we’ll let you know if (or when) they become available.
