Big Wheels, Big Fun

17 03 2021

Dan’s Comp recently dropped a video profiling the 26″ Stolen Zeke. The backstory is that the rider/employee featured (Michael Barrow) wanted a bigger bike to assist with his rehab for a broken foot/ankle.

The bike he chose was the Stolen Zeke. His thinking was the bigger wheels, geometry and more comfortable ride would get him back in BMX shape in no time.

As his ankle got stronger, he began jumping curbs and then riding the 26″ Zeke more aggressively. He soon discovered that what he thought would be a “fun toy” to rehabilitate his ankle was much more. He didn’t realize just how much fun he would have riding a 26″ freestyle-oriented cruiser could be.

In the intro, he touches on the bikelife movement, how versatile a 26″ is for commuting and store runs (while dropping manuals in the middle of the video) but then soon starts putting the Zeke through its paces in the streets, skatepark…you name it.

He even adds pegs to get some grind action in and the Zeke does not miss a beat. You can do some “serious riding” on this bike but the result is still smiles and fun.

Just goes to show, don’t judge a bike by it’s wheel size.

When it comes to BMX, you can have a seriously good time whatever size wheel you ride on.

Cool stuff spotted in the catalogs

Sometimes vendors have to make the tough call when it comes to what bikes and parts to display at Interbike.

Whether it’s logistics, space issues or something else, sometimes bikes and components that you were kinda hoping to see aren’t on display.

Here are some of the bikes that I wished were on display at Interbike, based on the catalogs that I saved from the show.

The first is the 2015 Stolen Saint XLT 24 Complete in Chrome. This thing looks sweet! (And the Matte Electric Red colorway is not too shabby either.)

The next bike is also from Stolen. It’s the 2015 Zeke Complete 26″ in Matte Electric Green…this colorway will definitely turn some heads! (It’s also available in Matte Raw Silver.)

The next is the SE Quadangle Freestyle 24.  If you recall, we checked out a sneak peek of this bike back in June. I had my fingers crossed that I would be able to check it out in Vegas.  No such luck. Still digging this bike though…old school looks with new school geo…would love to try one of these bad boys out!

26 inch Stolen Zeke lands this March

4 02 2014

Ever since the debut of the prototype 26″ Zeke freestyle cruiser from Stolen Bikes (back in September) we’ve been waiting on news of its release.

Well, we just got word the other day that the Zeke is landing in March!

Details on final specs and geometry are still under wraps but I expect that stuff should be available pretty soon (hopefully along with some sneak peeks).

And, as an added bonus if you’re a 26″ aficionado, Stolen will also be releasing a 26″ version of its 2.2 Joint tires to the public at the same time.

MTB badass Carter Holland is currently sporting a set on his bike and if they’ll stand up to his hardcore riding I think they might just stand up to anything.

Watch for more updates as the month progresses.
