Ever walk into a bike shop and get the feeling the guy behind the counter doesn’t quite “get” BMX?
Much less 24″ BMX?
I have a hunch that’s not going to be much of an issue if you shop at the Peddler Bike Shop in Austin, Texas.
Check out long-time BMX rider/Peddler Bike Shop owner, A.J. Camp, on a stock 24″ We the People Avenue from his shop.
Sweet table out of the bowl in Cedar Park, Texas.

Quick Question. Whats stopping me from putting 24″ mountain bike wheels on my 24″ cruiser? Great website by the way!!
the rear hub will be too wide by about an inch, 110mm bmx vs. 135mm mtb. The front may work but probably has a quick release axle.
better not try to have too much fun at that place.. or the 4 wheel fun police will get ya!
AJ kills that bowl.

The size of your hubs, maybe ;>
Austin, TX and he ain’t on a Sunday? Yikes!
Cmon don’t hate! I like Sunday bikes too. Probably going to be on one since the avenger was sold today. Bobby whatcha got?!?
i knew it wouldt be long before you sold that thing…. the Model C is too much to resist!!
hey BobbyP, are the 4 wheel police the skaters themselves or local cops? b/c if it’s the skaters there is something so wrong with that.
yea, there are a crew of “adult” (using the term VERY loosely) skaters who patrol the bowls out there. when i showed up on my model c one of the skaters tried to give me some song and dance about no pegs and what not. then i showed him my pedals/bar ends/plegs were all made of plastic and there was no way for them to harm the cement bowl. the look on his face was priceless…haha. he was so confused by it that he just kept preaching to me about how bike pegs damage the bowl. i just dropped in and let the dude be old and salty. not much else you can do really… a skate boarder listening to reason from a bmxer is like all the redneck idiots listening to reason from all the muslims who are trying to build a mosque at ground zero. that shit just isnt happening.
Not hatin’, just giving you a hard time. No worries!
I find it hysterical and completely hypocritical that skaters (especially older guys) give someone on a bike a hard time. The days of the punk-rock, f-the man skater are long gone. Now they have the local gov’t backing them because of the perception that bikes do the damage.
And I don’t disagree about metal pegs either, they certainly do some damage, especially from an inexperienced rider. But if you’re going to use my tax money to get these parks built, better find a way to include me not exclude me because of my chosen vehicle for getting gnar. /end rant, hahaha
I couldn’t have put it better myself. The thing that pisses me off the most though, a few of the guys who were around one morning when AJ and I were riding the Cedar Park skatepark that gave us a bit of grief were skating the T-1 ramp (and eating free hot dogs) on saturday. So you can ride a private ramp with a bunch of bmxer’s and eat all of their food, but you cant let them ride a cement bowl that you did nothing to help get made. That sounds pretty reasonable to me, I guess.
Oh man you should’ve told Joe about that one and hopefully he’d kick their asses out!
Amen Dave!
